Who needs to certify?
The following providers must certify to the Department of Consumer and Business Services director that they have reviewed and read certain informational material provided by the Workers' Compensation Division, before they treat any patients with Oregon workers' compensation claims:
- Chiropractic physicians
- Naturopathic physicians
- Nurse practitioners
- Physician associates
If you have not certified to the director and treat a patient with an Oregon workers' compensation claim, the insurer will not have to pay for the services you provided.
Certification steps
Review and read the following materials:
- An introduction to the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine's disability prevention guidelines, "Preventing Needless Work Disability by Helping People Stay Employed"
- The Employer-at-Injury Program (return-to-work) information
- The appropriate handbook for your specialty:
After you have read the above materials, complete the Statement of Certification online form.
